Will You Be Your Valentine?

With the 'Valentine's Day' just around the corner, the gifting business has suddenly taken a hike. Jewellery, bouquets, gifts are all in great demand.

People from all walks of life want to do something special to make their significant other feel special and loved. Even if the before and after 'V Day' maybe filled with crazy arguments, training each other to be more admirable and showing a sense of power in the relationship. And all of this is pretty much normal we may add. That's how most romantic relationships are. Especially when we try so hard for our partner to appreciate us and our little efforts. We spend the whole day thinking what will make him/her happy. What should I do that will make him/her see how much I love them.

These are just a few things that we tend to focus on in a relationship. And the whole idea that 'Happiness' comes from having a partner. It is a symbol that you are wanted or even needed by somebody. That you are not a 'looser' or a 'lonely' person. And so we desperately seek to find that partner who will make us feel loved and wanted. Especially on Valentine's Day.

Here is where it gets interesting. How about you be your own Valentine this year? Ok, I am not telling you to ditch your Bea and stand them up on your very special date. But here's what I urge you to do. Spend sometime in the day with yourself. Pamper yourself not because you want to look good for your significant other, but because you want to look good for you! And even if that means just staying in with pajamas. Who cares! Its YOU who needs to feel special. And that can be anyway you please.

The idea here is to fall in love with yourself again! Yes, 'AGAIN'. The reason I say again is because we were born with a sense of love and wonder for ourselves. If you have ever seen babies, they love themselves. But along the way of growing up, we somehow start believing we are not good enough. And its nobody's fault. We have all been doing the same thing to each other for over generations. But all that can change

You can begin the most important relationship ever in your life. That is with YOURSELF. Get to know yourself better. Your likes, dislikes, how you feel about your body, about your life. What according to you is important. Not what your friends or family think, but what you think. Often times are likes and dislikes are masked by the people around us. So here is a chance to know yourself again. Like your little quirks. They make you who you are. And trust me when I say, you are AMAZING!

When you start this relationship and begin to know yourself better, even like yourself more, you will know how to be truly happy. Then you won't need that diamond ring or that status of 'married' or 'In a relationship'. Because you will know how to be happy without a partner. Just you and yourself. And once you have been able to do that, anybody else who comes in life, he/she is going to get the best of you. And how amazing would that relationship be?

So this Valentine's Day celebrate your love for yourself. Be that which you want your partner to be. Start the most beautiful love affair. It will not only make you feel loved and special but also give you the freedom to choose to be 'Happy' with yourself and your life. And everything else will be the cheery on the cake.

To all my readers, Happy Valentine's Day! Get on with celebrating your love for who you really are.
